HEATHROW ROUTES & TRAFFIC CONDITIONS
Most Heathrow journeys rely on the M40, M25 and M4 corridor, but no two days are exactly the same.
Morning traffic often builds around the M25 between Junctions 15 and 16, particularly where the M4 joins the motorway network. Friday afternoons can affect westbound traffic approaching Heathrow, while Sunday evenings often see increased traffic returning towards London.
For journeys from Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, route choices may vary between the M40, M25 and M4 depending on terminal, departure time and current traffic conditions.
This is why every Heathrow journey is planned individually rather than relying solely on sat-nav estimates.
HEATHROW TERMINALS
Heathrow operates four active passenger terminals, each with different road access and collection arrangements.
• Terminals 2 and 3 are reached via the central terminal area.
• Terminal 4 uses the Southern Perimeter Road and has different access arrangements from the other terminals. The former Terminal 4 multi-storey car park has now closed as part of Heathrow’s redevelopment programme, with passenger parking temporarily relocated to the Terminal 4 Park & Ride.
