UNDERSTANDING THE GATWICK ROUTE
Most journeys to Gatwick from our core areas run via the A41 or A418 towards the M40, then across the M25 before joining the M23 into the airport.
The main pressure point is usually the southern side of the M25, particularly around Junction 7 where the motorway meets the M23. Traffic around this interchange often becomes the defining part of the journey, especially on Friday afternoons, summer weekends and during school holidays.
Southbound traffic tends to build gradually rather than suddenly, which is why poor timing often leads to unnecessary delays. Early morning runs are usually more predictable, while later departures often need additional allowance.

GATWICK NORTH & SOUTH TERMINALS
Gatwick operates two passenger terminals, North Terminal and South Terminal, connected by the airport transit system.
