THE JOURNEY TO HEATHROW

The journey normally takes around 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes, covering approximately 45 to 55 miles, depending on traffic and the time of day.

Most journeys leave Oxford via the A34, joining the M40 before continuing towards the M25 and Heathrow Airport.

The route itself is straightforward, but timing rarely is.

Morning commuter traffic can affect the A34 before you’ve even reached the motorway, while conditions around M25 Junctions 16 and 15 often influence the final part of the journey. Junction 10 near Wisley regularly becomes the deciding point, particularly on Friday afternoons, holiday weekends and during the summer travel season.

Because traffic conditions change quickly, departure times are worked backwards from your flight rather than simply calculated using sat-nav estimates. Once congestion develops approaching Heathrow, there are very few realistic opportunities to recover lost time safely.

HEATHROW ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES

Heathrow operates across Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5, each requiring a different approach.

Terminal 5 is usually reached via M25 Junction 14, while Terminals 2 and 3 share the central terminal area. Terminal 4 follows a separate approach, making lane positioning important well before reaching the airport.

For return journeys from Heathrow to Oxford, we monitor your flight from departure until landing. If your arrival changes because of an airline delay, your pickup adjusts automatically and there are no waiting charges for delayed flights.
