THE ROUTE TO STANSTED
The journey usually takes around 2 to 2½ hours, covering approximately 100 to 110 miles, depending on traffic and your departure time.
Most journeys leave Oxford via the A34, joining the M40 before continuing around the M25 and onto the M11 towards Stansted Airport.
Although the route follows major motorways for most of the journey, traffic conditions rarely remain consistent from start to finish.
The northern section of the M25 often behaves differently from the western side of the motorway. As the route approaches the M11, traffic conditions can change quickly, particularly during weekday commuter periods and busy holiday weekends. Delays on this final stretch can have a greater impact than many passengers expect, which is why we monitor traffic throughout the journey rather than relying on a fixed route.
